Recalling bitter winters in Illinois and especially those of my tree-trimming career, I searched for an article I had written about that snowy-cold experience. Forty years ago now, and for some reason I remember February 1st, I recall standing near a leafless tree, surrounded by that purely perfect white stuff, looking up to the awesomely grey sky, and wondering, “What is the weather like in California right now?” Seven months later, I would be on my way.

And now I’m done. Destination mostly unknown, but east of here for sure. I wonder what the weather is like in Daytona Beach right now. Here we go. How do you like your waxing gibbous moonlight? Reflecting off the waves, I say.
